[Food Review] Classic Cheese with Angus Beef Burger

Had bio-ed the three new signature collection from Mcdonalds for weeks, before I finally found the time (and excuse) to try one of them. Being a Beef cum Cheese Lover, it was not difficult to decide which to try first.

Before I tried this Classic Cheese with Angus Beef Burger, I did not have a very good impression of the Angus Beef Patty that Mcdonalds used. I tried creating my own Mcdonald burgers before using Angus Beef, but many a time, the Angus Beef Patty tasted very dry.

However, with the Melted Cheese, Salsa Sauce and Sour Cream alike Sauce all in the burger at the same, I had the OMG feeling as I chewed on the slightly wet Angus Beef Patty and Crispy Bacon.

I had never been a big fan of the Mcdonalds Burger Bread but it was one of the few times I finished all the Burger Bread.

It was not long before I tried the burger a second time at the same branch. I was not disappointed! This is the second burger apart from Carl's Junior Western Bacon that give me the OMG feeling.

I urge all beef lover to try the Classic Cheese Burger with Angus Beef and leave a comment to this blog post to share your views and experiences!

Food Review : Cheesy McSpicy and Milo Dinosaur McFlurry

Unlike the Salted Egg Chicken Burger, I had yet to read any review about the "new" Cheesy McSpicy Burger on Facebook.

I called it "new" because McSpicy Burger has always been one of the long standing favorite burgers. And previously, we can already request to add a cheese to our usual McSpicy Burger, hence it was never something very new.

I am a McSpicy Burger Lover and I LOVE Cheese! Hence, I can shout out that this "new" burger creation is definitely my favorite so far and I am a big fan!

BUT the taste will be even better if the cheese can be thicker and bigger! Then we definitely will have the "burst in your mouth" Orhmm feeling.

I had to talk about where we went for this new recipe . Had wanted to bring the kids to the new Marine Cove area last Sunday for a nice lunch and outdoor playtime. However, a very heavy rain spoilt our plan. The crowd at the Mcdonald was surprisingly still okay and we waited less than 20 minutes to get  indoor seating. We did not have to wait very long to get our food too. The Mcdonald cleaner aunty was very friendly and encouraging. She told the kids to enjoy their lunch first and the rain would stop soon.

The rain did not stop but got heavier.

Nevertheless, I was really impressed with the customer service and friendliness of the Mcdonald servers. The indoor seating was cosy and layout was spacious. Jamie was amused by the cakes and sandwiches counter and posed for me to take pictures.

Our spirits were abit dampened but the Milo Dinosaur McFlurry made us smile!

Take a closer look at the Milo Powder Sprinkled on top of the McFlurry.

I was really surprised that the Milo Dinosaur McFlurry did not taste too sweet. Yummy! Beside the original Oero McFlurry, this is definitely my next favorite! Hehe! I will definitely go for another round of this McFlurry soon at the Mcdonald near my office. Hehehe!

Stay Tune for more Food Reviews as I am on food hunts quite often these days! I will also try to back-date my previous food hunts experiences too, which I feel is worth sharing!

Should there be any new recipes or restaurants/cafes, do let me know too so I can check them out! ^^

Food Review: McDonalds Salted Egg Chicken Burger and Salt & PepperFrench Fries Challenge

Took awhile to write this review because I wanted to confirm the taste of the burger, despite the many negatives remarks on Facebook.

Being someone who only believes in what I see and hear, I wanted to try the burger from at least 2 different venues before I write the review.

First Burger Tasting

Though there was more sauce in the second burger, the taste did not differ very much. :(

I think I was being unrealistic to hope that the burger tastes like salted egg prawns or salted egg crabs! Haha!

Second Burger Tasting

BUT the shaker fries were legendary!!! We always asked for extra servings of shaker fries whenever we go to Mcdonalds!!!

I even had shaker fries for teabreak at office once! :P The calories that comes with the shaker fries are totally worth it!

My Stress-Killing Teabreak

Don't look at my Sundae lah! Hahaha, since the shaker fries were going to fat-die-me anyway, some additional calories won't matter lah! Besides the chocolate will kill my stress! Haha!

Oh yes, if you are a goreng pisang lover, you may like the angmoh goreng pisang aka Banana Pie! I tried the Salted Caramel Icecream Cone. Hmmm.. it tasted sweet.. Is it supposed to taste sweet? I was expecting it to taste salty :/

Yum! At least I like Banana Pie lah! ^^

I hope this food review did not come too late as I just saw this in the papers this week! Oh Gosh!

What caught my eyes was not the Chessy McSpicy but the Milo Dinosaur McFlurry! I die die must give it a try really soon!!!

As a cheese lover, I am not going to miss the Cheesy McSpicy too! So stay tune for my next food review! ^^

8 Ways to Distress cum My Series of Birthday Celebrations

Hello World! Lately I had been busy and stressed over work and life, hence I am having backlog in my blogging again.

Feeling guilty when my friends told me they were looking forward to hear more about my various food venture, staycations and my recent Koh Samui getaway with Laogong.

Oops.. I really got to be more committed in my blogging. I actually always have new ideas. Recently, my Laogong even suggested I can do a Scoot4Food Series with him when he realized there are many good foodie spots to explore which are within scooting distance. He was also game to do cafe-hopping and finding new pak-tok spots with me! Feeling so loved! My girl also suggested doing Youtube videos with me! Wow! Am I not been a positive influence in exposing my family members to the social media?

So what had I been doing these two months to destress?

Vintage Birthday High Tea at Dempsey with my lovely friends on 29 April 2016

I have the habits of googling and reading up blogger reviews before I go for my food venture. I will try to write more food reviews too to share my experiences!

I was not disappointed with the "famous" Vintage High Tea @ Dempsey. There was a good variety of both sweet and savory bites. I especially love the raspberry tea served too!

Haha! Food has always been a good therapy for me when I am stressed (which is not good! Haha!). Thus I am even more inspired to try out and recommend only food that worth the calories!

We ended the evening with dinner with a beautiful view at Keppel Bay, Prive.

Birthday Lunch at Swissotel, Market Cafe on 2 May 2016

I have two very accommodating friends who are always eager to bring me to try the seafood in different hotels.

I really like the crabs and good variety of food at Market Cafe, the only imperfect part of the place is its noise level.

I was so lucky to grabs some of the black pepper crabs on my first serving as I was unable to get any (due to the long queue) after that.

As usual, we forgot to take a group picture again :( I think I will opt for a quiet, non-crowded, non-noisy high tea session in future so we do not need to rush through our food and be chased out of the restaurant in 2 hours. It made my food therapy seems too stressful!

But it was really good food and I had my fill and feel :)

Mothers' Day Lunch at Carousel on 8 May 2016

Again I did my homework before the big feast. But I still could not believe my eyes! The seafood spread was heavenly for me! There was Oysters, Chilled Prawns, Crabs, Shellfish and Crayfish I will definitely go back then again for the seafood!

Though I had a bad lesson about eating Oysters last Xmas, I still cannot help it but gobbled a few down. The children also had fun trying out different food.

But what was most important during this family gathering, was that everyone in the family trying their best to be present for this special day to celebrate for my mother-in-law.

I especially love this family photo!

Joint Birthday Staycation with Yvonne on 20-21 May 2016

We totally enjoyed our nua-ing in the hotel, since we checked in at 2.30pm.

It was a great idea to get the Club Room, which is only few tens of dollars more than the normal room, but comes the list of M Club benefits below:

Interestingly, we are two good friends, who give each other a lot of personal space, even when we travel or have staycations together.

Since we left our common workplace, we meet and chat lesser due to our busy schedule. But I know we can always count on each other in our time of need. Thank you for always being there for me!

Love the quiet private check-in and the quiet afternoon tea at the M Club Lounge. I can see that we are both trying to let-go, recharge and avoid binge eating! Haha!

The foc afternoon snacks include yummy homemade cookies, coffee/tea and chips. Not too fanciful but good enough for us to stay full till the evening cocktail ^^

The room is cosy and nice. We are not so much into the room itself, except nua-ing in bed and watching TV together. :P

When the clock struck 6pm, we hit the M Club Lounge again. We were not so keen in the canapés which included lovely macaroons and pretty small bites...

Yes, people who know us have guess it correctly! We aimed for the free flow red and white wine. In fact, there was so little crowd in the M Club Lounge, I think we finished 3 of the 4 bottles of red wine served. The wine helped us slept well that night. Sleep is always the best antidote for stress.

Hugging and Bonding with my two darlings

My J&J never failed to make my day no matter how tired or how short fused I am for the day.

Even when the weekdays wore me out, I still look forward to bring them out every weekends!

Really love them!

Just last Saturday, Yvonne and I challenged ourselves by bringing J&J to the zoo (without Laogong). Though tired, I really enjoyed myself with my darlings!

Feeling loved by Laogong

This one month we had been through a lot together, and we both made efforts to make things work. Now we are lovey dovey like we first got together. It really feels good being sticky to Laogong once again! And feeling loved definitely helped me to feel destress too!

Missing Laogong really badly during his 3 weeks overseas reservist! Counting down to his return everyday!

Laogong never fails to surprise me with his very sweet staycations to ensure we have sufficient privacy, despite being parents of two young children. Many couples we know would have think otherwise but I really do believe that marriage is the foundation of effective parenting. He would always want to feed me with the best food and buy me anything within his purchasing power.

My Surprise Birthday Staycation at One Degree 15, Sentosa

Though I did joke with Laogong about a belated birthday celebration for me after our helper returned, I did not think too much about it. Hence, it was really a sweet pleasant surprise when Laogong brought me to One Degree 15 @ Sentosa for one night stay.

I had always hoped to go for the new Wing of Time laser show at The Beach Station but had not have the chance. My very thoughtful Laogong actually remember my wishlist and brought me there!

It is all these sweet thoughts that means so much to me :)

Laogong helping me to cut and peel snow crab legs

Maybe to many, this act seems no big deal but Laogong being someone who does not eat crabs due to bad childhood experience, this means alot to me. He is willing to overcome his "fear" to cut and peel snow crab legs for me!

2+ more days till we meet again.. I miss you Laogong!

Happening January..

28 January 2016. Time flies as we approach the end of the first month of the new year.

What have you done so far this month? Busy with your Primary One child like I did during the first 2 weeks and now busy doing our "last minute" Chinese New Year shopping?

Finally I finished my own CNY clothes shopping last weekends! This year CNY is so "early"! In just another 10 days, it is already CNY! There are so many things I had done in January and so many things I had yet to do~~~

Princess goes to Primary One

As many know, my little baby princess turned 6 years old last Nov and now she is in Primary 1! Like many gancheong and ONZ mothers, I took 2 days leave to "support" Jamie and to attend the curriculum and parenting talks. Through the participation of the two days orientation programme, I was lucky to find a group of enthu but not overly enthu mummies. Yes, it is important to be enthu about your child's academic but being with a group of overly enthu parents, we will not only add stress to our kids, we will also add stress to ourselves. Please lor, we already have to worry about bread and butter everyday, and now has to be worried about our kids' homework. Still not enough for us to be worried meh?

I find myself now feeling obliged to fly home after work to revise school work and learn spelling and 听写 with Jamie. I am kinda of worried I will lose myself.. *cough* like our parents did. :P

However, Jamie surprises me every other day from being able to read new English words now using her newly picked up phonic skills, to getting 96/100 for her first 听写. I am never a very smart child, so I always choose to study smart. What I mean by study smart? Well, if I know I die also cannot remember a Maths formula then I will choose to skip that topic and focus on the other topics which I can score in. Similarly, since I don't think Jamie is able to score 100 marks for Chinese 听写, hence I don't find it helpful to push her unrealistically. I am happy for her to get 80-90 marks. Thus I was really happy for her when she comes home with 96 marks for her first 听写.

I also love hearing all the stories she brings home about her new friends. Little Jamie is never good with names (like her Baba), hence she likes to give them "nickname" or "code name". Example who and who is her number 2 friend whom she got to know on her school bus. She was extremely thrilled (so am I) when a "3rd" new friend asked her to be her BFF!

I am looking forward to hear more stories about Jamie's adventure in her Primary School.

Prince turns THREE

Our prince ended his terrible two this January. But it does not make him an angel yet. Haha! He is still as cheeky but I have to say, he is more "reasonable" and he expresses himself so much better now. I love to be surprised by him every other day too, hearing the new words and full sentences coming out from his mouth.

His princey look really melts my heart too and I have to consciously refrain myself from letting him get away from his misdeeds simply by giving me a kiss on my lips! Haha!

Laogong's Birthday Staycation

Last weekends, we checked in at DoubleTree@JB again for Laogong's birthday staycation. Among the three JB hotels we had our staycations before (ie. Hotel Jen @ Puteri Harbour, KSL Resort and DoubleTree@JB, we personally like DoubleTree more. Not sure if Hilton is more upclass than Shangri-la but I find the hotel staff more approachable and proactive.

I feel that the hotel rooms are more value for money too because for S$204, we can actually get a lovely and cosy one bedroom suite at DoubleTree@JB!

We also get to sign up HHonours member for FREE. For the one bedroom suite, we are entitled to FOC pre-dinner liquor and canapés at the Executive Lounge, plus breakfast at Executive Lounge or Tosco Restnt instead of the main breakfast area. The pre-dinner liquor is really heavenly for us who can drink a lot. They not only serve good quality red and white wine, a variety of spirit and whiskey with different mixers, they also served bottled beer. The canapés were filling enough to be eaten as dinner too.

Nevertheless, we still proceeded to have our "real dinner" at Tosco Restnt. The indoor ambience was great and you can also choose to have your food served by the poolside. I was very full, hence shared a pasta and dessert with Laogong.

The next morning we had our breakfast exclusively at Tosco Restnt. Love the omelette as always and the porridge too.

Did CNY shopping for my CNY and new work clothes! Okay, frankly if not for our currency power, some of the dresses I bought at RM89-139 are not considered cheap for the locals. But of coz compared to the min $50s-$80s dresses selling in SG boutiques, the dresses I bought are considered cheap.

After our simple dinner and 1-2hr jam at the customs, we got home to cut Laogong's birthday cake with our princess and prince!

New Korean BBQ and New Chilling HangOut

I lately fell in love with Korean BBQ...

I not only went to Arirang Korean BBQ Buffet with Laogong to celebrate our 16th years anniversary, I also went for another Korean BBQ Buffet at Chinatown Point to celebrate Yeewen's birthday. I personally like the cooked food at Arirang but the meat served at Chinatown Point is of better quality. There are more variety of meat over there too. You cannot imagine we 3 girls could finish 4 servings of beef, 3 servings of pork and 2 servings of chicken! And not including the soups, sides and vegetables we had too!

Chupito - Shooters Paradise but really not for us

Met up with Yvonne to "celebrate her new venture". We were adventurous and wanted to try Shooters @ Chupito and Tanyoto Steamboat Supper Buffet.

We concluded that Shooters are not for us. Harry Potter's Butter Beer tastes interesting though. We were pretty amazed by the amount of alcohol that was mixed into our looking harmless drinks. It was a cool place but definitely not for us. Haha!

We finally tasted Tanyoto. Nothing fantastic really except for the interesting soup bases, ie, salted cabbage and fish base and tomato soup base. The seafood and meat don't smell very fresh either. After my horrible two nights at TTSH, I became very cautious about what I eat so I didn't eat much in the end. Won't go again.. :P

My January is so happening hor? But there are so much more to do before CNY. Hope I get to check these off my "To Do List" soon! ^^
